What can ChAPS do for me?

We support families with Autism Spectrum Condition or Aspergers Syndrome, whether diagnosed or not, living in Cheshire.

Our ethos

Our ethos is working proactively and positively to achieve our aims, to improve autism awareness, increase independence skills and use early intervention techniques to improve outcomes for children.

For parents we produce a monthly Newsletter that is sent out to all our members, with current news articles, signposting and reference material and has a Diary of Events detailing everything we are doing the following month.

We help by educating you about the possible difficulties your child may have at the moment or in the future, with advice, support, signposting and information.

We have an Advocate who can help parents with many issues that they may experience when negotiating their way through the education, health and care systems to achieve the best for their children.

We have made such fabulous friendships with other families who understand that our children are incredibly gifted and our pride and joy.

For the past few years and in an effort to make our charity sustainable we now charge for membership. A monthly donation of £5 minimum per family is paid by standing order. We are sure you will agree that this very small amount is excellent value for money, considering the 80+ activities every month we have.  Families in financial difficulty will be given free membership.

Currently the only ‘extra’ subs are for The Club our specialised socialisation group which runs weekly in Northwich for children. There is a high staff ratio and the staff receive speech & language input to deliver specialised socialisation skills to the children attending, hence a weekly fee of £5.

We run training programmes for parents like the attached OSSME training.  We also run training workshops on challenging behaviour, autism awareness, Pathological Demand Avoidance, sensory processing difficulties, mental health issues, OCD, Lego Therapy, Play Therapy.  Any behaviours that you might find impacting your family, we aim to increase your awareness and give you strategies to help.

We provide Mindfulness courses for parents, increasing your self-worth and coping strategies, increasing wellbeing – extremely effective at helping the family unit become stronger and more resilient.

If you are struggling we also have a Counsellor who understands the difficulties having a child on the spectrum can bring to you and your family.  She will provide a course of counselling to you individually or to you and your partner together.

If you would like to join ChAPS and have access to all the services we provide, please complete the APPLICATION FORM  from the MEMBERS tab.  We look forward to welcoming you and your family!
