Having worked with Activate several times and heard the praise that has been heaped on them from parents, ChAPS recommends their activities.

They have local groups across Cheshire.
Arty Adults
Arty Adults meet at The Wesley Church Centre, St John Street, Chester CH1 1DA during the week.

They are hands on art sessions for people of all abilities. You will need to book in beforehand, so a visit to the centre is needed.
Autism Hub & Resource Library
The Hub offers a collection of books, DVDs, CDs, visual aids, sensory toys and other useful tools to help anyone on the autistic spectrum or people caring for someone with autism, Asperger’s or other learning or sensory difficulty. We aim to provide a supportive, informal environment where individuals, parents and professionals can find information, talk to others in a similar situation or just have a coffee and browse our shelves. The Hub is based at Rosebank School, Barnton, Northwich.
Autism Networks
Autism Networks (A.N) is a non profit self-support group which helps children & young people affected by autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).

A.N was established in December 2002, by a group of like-minded parents, carers, professionals and let us not forget persons with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (including Aspergers Syndrome) based in Crewe, Cheshire.
Axia ASD
Axia ASD Ltd is one of the top providers of services in Cheshire for adults and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They provide diagnosis as well as post-diagnostic support primarily.
Beacon Reach
A warm, welcoming and specially designed Children’s Home with education offering up to 52 week provision for young people who may be on the autistic spectrum and who have severe, complex and challenging behaviours. They also offer 39 week Education Day Placements.

Calm Minds
Hypnotherapy and counselling in Stockport.

Calm Minds is a therapy centre run by principal therapist Jonathan Lloyd. Jonathan works with a team of trusted associates to provide counselling, psychotherapy and hypnotherapy services to the people of Stockport, South Manchester and Cheshire.

Jonathan is also the father of a son on the spectrum.
Cheshire & Warrington Carers Centre
Local charity and a network partner of Carers Trust, providing information, advice and support for unpaid carers across Cheshire. The Centre offers services such as personal budgets (breaks) for carers, relaxation vouchers, benefits advice and support, support groups, events and much more.

For individual advice carers can use a Freephone helpline 0800 085 0307 Mon-Fri 10am-4pm.

The Centre offers a specialist service for parents and carers of children and young people who have additional needs, services includes regular family newsletters, support groups, parent carer break days, events, training opportunities, access to the carers caravan and toy library plus much more.

Access to all the free services are by self referral - it does not matter if a child or young person does not have a diagnosis or is in receipt of a certain benefit. Cheshire and North Wales Dyslexia Association
It's aims are 'to inform the public of the nature of the problem of dyslexia and its incidence in the community, to encourage public support and understanding and to promote and widen recognition of the disability.'

And 'to give information and support to parents and others in their attempts to find education which will enable the dyslexic individual to reach his or her full potential.'
Cheshire Autism Diagnostic Services
The Cheshire Autism Diagnostic Service provides detailed structured assessment of children and adolescents presenting with a suspected autism spectrum disorder.

The Cheshire Autism Diagnostic Service is run by Dr Leonard Thornton (consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist) and Mrs Gillian Benson (principal speech and language therapist).

We have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of autism spectrum disorders and for over 14 years ran an autism diagnostic service within the NHS.
Cheshire Centre for Independent Living (CCIL)
Provide a Continuing Healthcare Advocacy service.

This service provides one to one support for clients who wish to apply for Continuing Healthcare funding and their family, friends or Carer’s.
Cheshire East Autism Team (CEAT)
The Cheshire East Autism Team (CEAT) is a small school focussed team of teaching and support staff with considerable experience and qualifications in the field of ASC.

They provide specialist support for children in years 1 to 13 attending mainstream schools.

'The aim and objective is to ensure that all disabled children are supported within their families and are fully included and valued members of their local communities.'

Cool for Kids Occupational Therapy

Council for Disabled Children - Early Support App
The Early Support app provides an easy way for the parents or carers of a disabled child to store, share and organise information about their child and the support and services they receive. It places families at the centre, enabling them to choose what information to upload, and who they want to share information with; be that doctors, nurses, teachers or social workers. It also provides a single plan format that can form the basis for the new Education, Health and Care Plan.
Cygnet Springside Stockport
Provide comprehensive specialist and personalised support services for people with autism, including Asperger syndrome, associated learning difficulties and complex needs, including specialised support for families and carers in the North West.

This service is available to ages 5 through to 64 and they can be contacted by phone on 0845 070 4170 or through their website.

East Cheshire Advocacy
Is a group providing support services, particularly about transition for 14-25 year olds.
Educational Psychologist CE
Drop-in sessions through Cheshire East are available for parents who have any concerns about their child’s wellbeing, behaviour, learning or development with an Educational Psychology Team at their local Children’s Centre.

These consist of 45 minutes free session for parents to have a chat to an Educational Psychologist.

Eureka!
Eureka! in Halifax have activities for children and their siblings to take part in, all of which are free.

They have an Autism Primary Club and you can also access their Extra Pair of Hands service twice a year which offers free one-to-one support from a member of staff.

Face 2 Face Halton
Face 2 Face in Halton, Runcorn and Widnes in Cheshire is our free befriending service offering one-to-one emotional support for parents of disabled children or those with additional needs.

Greenbank School is a co-educational secondary school with a residential facility. Greenbank is registered with the Department of Education as a school for pupils with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties. Throughout the last decade they have provided for secondary age pupils with Social / Communication and Complex Learning Difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Conditions. Greenbank is situated on a large educational campus in Hartford on the outskirts of Northwich, Cheshire.

The Local Offer sets out, in one place, information about provision and support that the Local Authority expects to be in place for children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
Local Offer Cheshire West
The Local Offer website provides information for children and young people with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) and their parents or carers, in a single place. It includes information from a range of local agencies, including education, health and social care. Knowing what is out there gives you more choice and therefore more control over what support is right for your child.

Simply Misunderstood
Simply misunderstood’ is about enabling others to understand and deal with people with a learning disability or autism/pathological demand avoidance (PDA).

In some instances our lack of understanding can impact on the child/person with a learning disability meaning they have to use other means to make them self understood. The solution is to gain a greater understanding of the person this could be via training, assessments or supervision.

The Brainwave Centre
Brainwave is a charity that exists to help children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence by aiming to improve mobility, communication skills and learning potential through a range of educational and physical therapies, and the children we work with have a range of conditions including: autism, brain injuries such as cerebral palsy and genetic disorders such as Down’s syndrome. The Broad Street Project
The Broad Street Project in Crewe are starting two new groups for people with autism.

If you think your little one shows signs of autism, come along to a fun class on Thursdays 10 - 11.30am. For children from birth to four years old.

If you have Aspergers and are 16+ and want to talk to other people with Aspergers, come along on Wednesdays 7 - 8.30 pm.

The adult services supports those with complex needs to attain quality of life and to maximise their potential in a safe residential environment.

We currently provide the very best in integrated social and medical care for people from all over the UK with epilepsy, physical disabilities, learning disabilities and autism in residential care and nursing homes.

People who are more independent can be supported in their own homes by staff from our domiciliary care agency – "Care at Home".

Our adult respite service offers bespoke packages to allow a person to take a break from their familiar routine, all within wonderful surroundings and access to David Lewis facilities.

West Kirby Residential School
We are situated in the small seaside town of West Kirby, with access to a wide range of cultural and leisure activities in Wirral, North Wales and Liverpool. Cheshire East Supported Employment delivers the Work Choice Programme in partnership with Shaw Trust and the DWP. This is a government led programme which offers support to you as a disabled job seeker to find paid work and up to two years further support once you have become employed to help sustain your job.
Work Choice Cheshire West & Chester
Cheshire West and Chester Council works in partnership with Shaw Trust, a national voluntary sector organisation, delivering the DWP Work Choice programme. Work Choice is a voluntary government supported employment programme designed specifically for people who, due to their disability/health condition, may find it difficult to find employment for 16 hours plus per week.
