Contact Access Teams

Access Teams are the first point of contact to talk about help for yourself, a relative, or for information about Social Services.

Staff are able to offer an in-person interview, you can phone them for an appointment.

They are open from 8.30am until 5pm Monday to Friday.

 

Access Team Mission Statement

Providing the way into the Social Services Department for the public and partners, which can easily be identified and offers a consistently welcoming, positive, informative and accurate response.

Service Motto: 'Yes we can help'.

Access service staff will help identify whether your problem is something Social Services would deal with. They will then provide you with information about their services, and the process whereby these services are allocated. They may be also to resolve the problem there and then, or arrange the provision of a service.

However, if the situation is more complex, it is possible to see someone at the Access Team office. Where somebody needs to be accessed in their own home, the Access Team would refer to one of their specialist teams.

The core responsibilities of the department are to protect the vulnerable or those at risk. The Access Service has to identify these situations and gather information necessary to ensure a prompt response by the department.

Their remit is much wider, seeking to inform, advise and counsel people.

Where necessary Access staff will redirect your query to another agency or service.

 

Emergency Duty Team

If you need to contact Community Services in the evening, at night, or over the weekend then the Emergency Duty Team is available 01244 977277.

They will provide a response to your problems for both adults in need of community care services, and to children and families.

An experienced social worker will answer the phone and give advice and guidance. If they can't resolve the issue they will pass your information on to another team the next working day or arrange for a visit by a member of staff to assess and respond to the problem.

They are open from 4.30 pm until 9:00 am Monday to Friday, and all weekend and bank holidays.
